Ethical Hacking : Find Weaknesses And Vulnerabilities

Ethical hacking is the act of finding out weaknesses and vulnerabilities of a computer and information systems by duplicating the intent and actions of malicious hackers. Ethical hacking is also known as intrusion testing, penetration testing and red teaming. An ethical hacker is a security professional who applies their hacking skills to protect the organization from theft on behalf of its owners of information systems. By conducting penetration tests, an ethical hacker finds the answers of following four basic questions.

1. What information/locations/systems can a black hat hacker gain access?

2. What does an attacker see on the target?

3. What can an attacker do with available information?

An ethical hacker operates with the knowledge and permission of the organization for which they are trying to defend. In some cases, the organization will neglect to inform their information security team of the activities that will be carried out by an ethical hacker in an attempt to test the effectiveness of the information security team.

Ethical hacker is someone who systematically attempts to penetrate a computer system or network with permission from its owners for the purpose of finding security vulnerabilities that an unethical hacker could potentially exploit.

So an ethical hacker is a computer and networking expert who will document the issues and offer advice on how to fix the problems if and when vulnerability is found.

With changing technology and techniques, companies are realizing that locking the doors simply isn’t the best way to protect systems instead systems need to be continuously tested to withstand a variety of attacks that evolve as adversities.

Ethical hacking offers a detailed examination and interpretation of organizations information security and protects it from unskilled hackers.

Hackers must scan the weaknesses in the system, test the entry points and then prioritize targets and develop a strategy with optimum utilization of their resources.

As the number of cyber-attacks have increased, so too has the need for ethical hackers and their prominence in business across the globe.

Due to globalization, the ever increasing business activities of the organizations raise security concerns to a large extent which cannot be ignored as might cause a huge loss in terms of breach of computer security system or data theft .therefore ethical hacking is an inalienable part of the cyber security

Therefore it is essential to build a computer system that prevents black hat hackers access and safeguard system and information from malicious attack .
